Baltic View Film Event: ‘Knutification’ with Q&A

11 April, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us in celebrating Latvian centenary of restored statehood and come to the London premiere of a Latvian documentary film Knutification.

Directed by Ivars Tontegode.

Ticket Price: £12.00

Knutifiction – a process of learning, metamorphosis. This film provokes to review one’s own existence and being in this world through the prism of the Zeitgeist and personality of the poet Knuts Skujenieks. The film reveals the eternal struggle of a strong personality’s coming to terms with the society and system in which an individual is seen as the minimum, never as the maximum value. Knuts Skujenieks is not a macro revolutionary aiming to change the system but is rather a micro rebel in his own inner world. Not to disappear, not to break down, to live, to survive, find his own path – these are the messages conveyed by Knuts Skujenieks in the film “Knutification”.

Documentary about Latvian writer/poet Knuts Skujenieks, who was published but forbidden until the fall of the Soviet Union, but has since been translated into more than 30 languages, but only made it into English recently.
This films will be presented in the context of the historical events celebrating the centenary of the three countries. Prior the screening, we will invite the audience to join a discussion panel.

The event is organised together with the “London Book Fair” and the “London Book Screen Week”.
In partnership with Estonian Embassy, Latvian Embassy, Latvian Literature and Lithuanian Embassy in the United Kingdom.
